Innovations in Scrabble? I thoroughly Disagree

What is happening to the world? Up is down, hot is cold, in is out and it is now acceptable to use proper nouns in Scrabble. This is wholly unacceptable. Scrabble is and has always been perfect. I have played against a lot of regular readers of this blog and we have argued over some of the rules. Is it ok to play a variant of the traditional rules that preclude the use of 2 letter words for instance? The argument for this is that if you exclude these words then the person with the longest and most exciting words generally prosper. In the official rule set it can come down to the player who knows that ‘qz’ is an acceptable word.

In my opinion this is a fair argument to have with both sets of rules being fun. But I warn all my future competitors! Do not ask to play this new rule set with me. You will be shouted at, embarrassed and roundly demeaned before I pick up my scrabble set and away from you disdainfully. This kind of wilful modernisation is not welcome in my Scrabble world.

The perfect comment: Pithy, concise and to-the-point whilst leaving the reader in absolutely no doubt of the writer’s sentiments. Take notes people.
