The radical redesign is about done. What you think? I’m fairly pleased with how its looking. There are still a few things that need sorting out but I don’t have time right now to iron out the bugs. What I really need is a logo. Since I am totally, ridiculously terrible at that sort of thing I think I’ll need help with it. If any of you, or your friends can knock up a simple helium balloon logo then I would be most grateful. I may even be so grateful that I would offer a reward.
Let me know what you think of the new look and if you have any suggestions. I will hopefully be adding a video channel soon which will fill the ‘bells and whistles’ criteria of the new look. Maybe some new commenting features too. But they are seriously pissing me off right now so they may not make it out of the bin. Look forward to hearing from you.

A huge improvement. I’m really digging the square corners. I’m really into that right now.
One thing… Although it’s pretty, for me a site is not really a blog if the first thing you see isn’t the latest new post… But the featured posts thing looks very nice. It’s kind of like nfl.com .
Thanks man. The sharp lines and simplicity is what I was after.
I’m working on getting a bit more separation between the featured posts slider and the first blog post. I like the ability of changing which posts are rotated at the top though.
Nfl.com was, of course, the major inspiration for the change.
I’m not digging the tag line beside your “The Helium Balloon” logo. Or at least if you’re going to keep it then keep it all one colour! IMHO of course.
No, no all comments welcome. I wouldn’t even mind if you ripped it to pieces. It was literally a 10 minute effort in CS2 to get something to fill the gap.
First off the strap line is too close to the word ‘the’. The letters in it are definitely too close together and I’m sure I can find a font I like better. Lots of stuff to do but having something there looks much better than having nothing.
Maybe its my screen but I still feel its quite white. Either way I like the minimalist, clean look.
Very pretty Neil.
Its a strange one. On my computer at home you could hardly see the grey lines between posts but in work they were very clear. Its just a contrast issue. These lines really make it look nicer. I think anyway.
Thanks to all for their comments.
New black frames. These are here to stay.
